All Gravestones have important information; Name, Date of Birth and Date of Death.
However, the most important piece of information is often overlooked. That is the “-“ (dash) between the birth and death dates.
The dash represents the life here on earth, and the time spent creating memories. Marcus’s dash was filled with love, life and many great memories which will be in everyone’s heart who met him.
Sir Marcus of Muddy Pawz
December 13, 2004 – November 14, 2019
On this day, November 14, 2019 our best Friend, Marcus crossed over the Rainbow Bridge; after a valiant struggle of 2 years with TCC Bladder Cancer.
Marcus was a loving family member who will always remain in our hearts. He was a happy dog who was the joy of our lives with his unconditional love. His tail never stopped wagging and even won a gold medal at the Central Bark Dog Fair in NYC for best tail-wager.
Marcus loved everyone and everything from being with his friends at the Doggie Park, running in the backyard with his sister Gracey, Boating on our boat “the Ruff Life”, swimming in the ocean at Stonington Borough, lounging at the “Dog Pound” at the Dog Watch Café, weekend road trips to NYC, Freeport, Maine, Boston and East Hampton and just enjoyed every moment with his family.
Marcus was a kind and gentle dog who left a place in everyone’s heart he met. In our eyes, Marcus never did anything wrong, and at times he could be a character that would make people laugh.
Marcus would jump on the bed or couch and turn around and before he laid down, he would scratch until the sheets ripped. This was not wrong in our eyes, as he just needed to be comfortable and kept the tailor in business.
Marcus was extremely intelligent; Marcus quickly learned that the Kitchen Table was the place where we ate. One day, we walked into the kitchen and Marcus was sitting on the chair at the kitchen table. From that Point on... that was Marcus’s chair! If someone was sitting in that chair, he would nudge them until they moved and then he would jump up and sit, waiting for a treat from the person he just took the seat from. He was always trying to figure out ways to get the good "people” food. During the summer cookouts, he would follow people around when they had a plate of food, come up behind them and bark, startling them so they would drop their plate of food.
Marcus also enjoyed car rides and road trips. With Frequent trips to NYC, he enjoyed the Spot Club Doggie Daycare, Central Park, Bryant Park, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and frequent stays the Millennium Hotel. Marcus was dubbed the Un-Official Millennium Mascot. He was truly a special part of the family, will be sadly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
There is a bridge of memories from Earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us. It's the bridge that we call love.
We would also like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the entire Wood River Animal Hospital staff, for their loving care and support they gave Marcus.
Thank you also to Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center, Dr. Impellizeri and Pet Plan insurance co. for helping give us additional time with our best friend.
